Data ScienceIntroduction:Data of the Mind: A Behavioral Design Perspective

Outline

The Behavioral Design Laboratory at the University of Tsukuba conducts behavior design research using the latest behavioral imaging technology to describe, predict, and control human social interactions based on applied behavior analysis. In this lecture, I will give an explanation of how to clarify mental phenomena through scientific and objective data, showing studies in children with autism spectrum disorder, which is characterized by lack of social interaction.

Profile

Soichiro Matsuda Faculty of Human Sciences
Soichiro MATSUDA is an Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Human Sciences, and also Principal Investigator of Behavioral Design Laboratory. He received the B.S., M.A, and Ph.D. in Psychology from Keio University, Tokyo, Japan, in 2010, 2012, 2016 respectively. He was awarded a research fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. From 2015 to 2018, he was a researcher at Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, University of Tsukuba. In 2017, he was a visiting scholar at Center for Autism Research, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
His primary research interests include early intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder, using technology in intervention, and parent training with a particular emphasis on Applied Behavior Analysis. A special emphasis is laid on the design of human-human interaction by psychological and information technologies.
