This lecture aims to give an overview of operation principle of solar cells, light emitting diodes, and laser diodes. All these devices consist of a pn junction diode; however, there are significant differences in the magnitude of current density and their direction. We start with basics of semiconductor physics and then go into details about these devices.(2016)
