Toshiyuki Kanakubo received Ph.D. in Engineering from University of Tsukuba in 1994. He became Assistant Professor of Department of Engineering Mechanics in University Tsukuba in 1994. Now, he has been working in University of Tsukuba as Professor of Division of Engineering Mechanics and Energy.
His research interests include the development of newly utilizations of “Fibre-Reinforced Cementitious Composite (FRCC)” and “Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) materials” for newly constructions of concrete structures, and retrofitting, strengthening of existing concrete structures.

  Mechanics of Materials Fundamentals

  Introduces basic matters and theorems related to internal force, deformation, stress, and strain of elastic one-dimensional member. For solid industrial materials, we introduce the concept of sectional forces (axial force, shear force, bending moment), which are internal forces, and stress and strain, and derive the constitutive law that is the relationship between internal force or stress and deformation or strain. Using them, we introduce simple truss structures and beam bending theory.
